The first historically verified dynasty was the Xia, and king Yu the Great is reported to be the first king of Xia, but I don't think his existence can be verified. Before him, Fu Xi is recorded as the first sovereign, and before him, Pangu is claimed to be the first living person.

There were kings in ancient time before rise of Shi Huang Di, the guy who united China for the first time...but it is not clear which guy was the FIRST king due to lack of historical proof.
After Shi Huang Di, the emperors became the ruler of China...kings were appointed governers who controlled the part of China

The was no first king of China as such. In the BCE era China as now known was a number of smaller kingdoms, Yan, Zhao, Qi, Qin, Wei, Song, Hann and Chu. This were unified in 221BCE under Qin, the first Emperor being now known as Qin Shi Hunangdi, or 'the First Qin Emperor' (he of the terracotta warriors)

Huangdi was the first 'emperor' of China, known as the Yellow Emperor, who reigned ca. 2600 BC (if he is historical). Before that, there were kings of heaven.
Unless you mean the first emperor of all the united tribes, who would be Shi Huangdi, around 200 BC.

No kings were in China. Just emperors, the first emperor, Huang Di, (now in modern Chinese, huang-di means emperor) It dates back in the B.C.E.s. It was said that his wife invented silk. Some people say that he himself is mythological. Funny.
