It's one of the three biggest -- the other two are politically motivated extremism and prejudice motivated extremism.
Or if you prefer, religious-motivated extremism is just one example of extremism motived by an arbitrary belief that one person or belief system is better than another.
And the reason that it is the biggest threat is inherent in the concept -- they believe they are right, and that everyone else is wrong, and they believe it so strongly that they have no qualms against enforcing their beliefs on everyone else, through force if necessary.
You see it in the US in religions and political parties, and in other countries primarily in religious sects.

I would not consider any extremist activity that is going on in the world today under the guise of religion, truly religiously motivated. These extremist views are nothing short of terrorism. They use religion as their cause , but their true religion for which they say they have does not support their actions of violence. Poverty in the developing countries led by cruel dictators is the main problem in the world. These conditions lead radical religions to control these poverty stricken people and force a belief on them controlled by their terror.

Winston, yeah speaking of INTOLERANCE for other beliefs, there sure is a lot of anti-religious hate being spewed today. Were it not for the billions and billions of sane religious people, we wouldn't have laws and morals today. The human race would've killed each other off a long time ago.

I would say that Jewish Supremacism is the biggest problem in the world today.
Anyone who reads the Old Testament with unbiased eyes will readily discern its dominant theme of racial and ethnic supremacism. There are many blatant expressions of ethnic supremacism:
* Israelites are a “chosen people,” chosen by God above all the other peoples of the world. Deuteronomy 7:6
* Israelites have a right to rule over all other people and are promised that they will someday own and rule over the whole world.Jub. 32:18 19
* Israelites boast of genocide against whole peoples and kingdoms.KJV Joshua 6:21; KJV Joshua 10:37; RSV Deuteronomy 20:16
* Israelites are commanded to murder all the people of the lands where they intend to live and to kill all the people of foreign nations that do not submit themselves in slavery. Deuteronomy 20:10-18
* Israelites are forbidden to make slaves of their own people, but are encouraged to enslave non-Israelites whom they may pass down as slaves to their descendants forever. Leviticus 25:44-46.
* Israelites are forbidden to intermarry or “mix their seed” with other peoples. Deuteronomy 7:2-3; Ezra 9:12
Jews preach diversity and liberalism for their perceived competitors and apartheid for themselves. If such dualism did not exist, how could the Jewish-dominated American media:
* Support the nation of Israel, which promotes Judaism in its schools, while opposing even the singing of Christmas carols in American public schools?
* Support the nation of Israel, which has strictly segregated schools, communities, and facilities for Jews and Arabs - while condemning segregated schools and housing in America and South Africa?
* Support the nation of Israel, with its restrictive “Jews Only” immigration laws, while subverting American attempts to curtail even illegal immigration?
* Support the nation of Israel, which allows every Jewish citizen to carry a machine gun if desired, while advocating gun control for American citizens?
* Support the nation of Israel, which openly states its mission to preserve the Jewish people and heritage, while condemning European Americans who dare to advocate the preservation of the Western heritage and culture in America?
* Always depict the historical relations between Jews and Gentiles with the Gentiles as evildoers and the Jews as innocent victims, while condemning Gentiles as “anti-Semites” if they dare defend themselves from such ethnic slanders?

One of the biggest, at least; as long as it entails violence and intolerance for other's beliefs and principles.
