where can i get that stainless capping that goes on top of gunwhales?

i have a 21 ft fishing vessel and i want to finish it with that stainless capping , it is about half inch wide and you screw it to the top sides. Does anyone know the stuff i mean and where to get it, i am based in the south east

Would have thought most chandlers would stock it.

Most chandlers should have it or be able to get it. Failing that, try ringing a few steel suppliers, they'll certainly be cheaper!

I've got a lot of my metalwork, s/steel, brass and bronze, via a local engineering supplier who has a bloke in the stores who actually knows the business. If they don't have it, he'll get it by next day.

It is called "cope iron" and is difficult to get hold of in our area (in galvanised-never mind stainless) I ended up using flat stainless.Try the steel stockists in your area-you might have more success than I did here. Also try any boatbuilders in you area. (it is also known as "half round")

YOU ARE LOOKING FOR STAINLESS STEEL MOULDING. GO TO WESTMARINE.COM OR BOATUS.COM THEY WILL HAVE IT. USUALLY COMES IN TEN FOOT LENGHTS. IT SHOULD BE AVAILABLE IN ANY MAJOR CITY IN THE SOUTHEAST USA THERE IS A BOAT STORE OF ANY SIZE. THIS STUFF IS USUALLY VERY EXPENSIVE. THE ORIGINAL STUFF TO REPLACE IT FROM THE MANUFACTURER WILL COST YOU THE PRICE OF ANOTHER BOAT. GOOD LUCK.

Try Parkers (steel suppliers) in Canterbury, failing that, any good chandler should have or be able to get it

I'd check with a sheet metal shop. They can mfg the exact size etc. And they are reasonable.
