It depends on what you mean by lack of food. If you're starving yourself, or suffering from an eating disorder then this can have all sorts of affects on your cycle and can hinder your chances of conception.

If you are starving yourself, yes it does. Women in famine areas have more difficulty conceiving and maintaining a pregnancy. Women with anorexia and bulimia often have similar problems.
If you are trying to lose weight without being extreme, then it is a non-problem. My doc said it's perfectly safe to lose a pound a week while trying to conceive as you aren't shorting the fetus on nutrients (presuming of course, you have a healthy non-fad diet).

Yes, I was anorexic(a long time ago now) and my periods actually stopped and was told i couldn't get pregnant but thankfully after a year they returned but was told i still could have trouble ttc as i might of done damage. If you are ttc and still want to lose the odd bit of weight if you are over weight then just eat the same amount but eat fruit and veg and the things that are good for you!

Food which is a source of vitamins and nutrients so if you are not eating properly and getting the right nutrients then I am sure it can affect things. If you are going to ttc then start practicing good health in preparation for your bundle of joy now.
Good luck!
