I'm a US green card holder but has a Philippine passport, I'm planning on going to Vietnam with my boyfriend (U.S citizen) and I was wondering whether or not I need a visa to enter/exit Vietnam? Also, what do I have to bring with me? Passport and green card?

It is your nationality that determines if you required a visa to enter another country.
For philippine passport holder - you can enter to vietnam for 14 days without visa.
Everywhere you go you have to carry your passport, it is your ID. Green card is for your reentry to USA. unless you dun wish to return anymore.

They are right. You'd better go to Vietnam Embassy to apply tourist visa, that may take 10 days max. Best plan is to contact a travel agency to get arrival visa obtained at airport when you enter Vietnam, highly recommended for u both, this way will cut a lot of redtape.

Hey AzNgUrL have no idea about visa type and apply procedures. Arrival visa in Vietnam is 25$ at airport plus 5$ to travel agent to guarantee service unless u make mistakes yourself. This way 100% safe and total cost is 30$ and u don't have to deal with any consulate or office. Do u expect any better ?

Both Qing Ai De n African Farmer are right. However I don't recommended to get landing visa (2 much hassle, not many of my clients like this process unless it was extremely emergency and more expensive.) There are 2 ways you can deal w/ this.
1. Contact the vn consulate, they work slowerrr w/ the citizen people.
2. Contact a travel agent, the consulate respond to them faster.
3. I used to work for Korean Airline so I know you CAN NOT even get CHECK-IN w/o an ENTRY LETTER or a VISA. So don't even try to risk it.
4. If your bf is Vietnamese, his fee is cheaper than you.

You will need a visa. Take your passport/green card etc and go to the Vietnamese consulate /embassy and get one - very easy procedure....If you are going for a very short period of time it maybe considered "in transit" visa, otherwise visitor's visa.... You will also need your green card /passport in order to re enter US!

QingAiDe is right.
And don't forget that your American boyfriend needs a visa to enter Viet Nam.

I would suggest very strongly you contact the state department to find out what you have to know, you might find yourself standing out in the cold and not being able to get back in otherwise.
