By that question I mean, at what age do women realize they aren't going to get a rich, tall, superfit, passionate, caring, loving, sensitive and tough, exciting, and handsome soulmate? so then they realize they themselves aren't perfect either so they lower their expectations of men and try to have realistic expectations of men.

it happens at different ages for different people, personally i would say generally low to mid 20's

It's strange that people have this perception that women mature faster than men. I have no I idea where this concept came about. I have yet to read a single article or book on human psychology that says women on average mature faster than men. I mean what is the benchmark of maturity? At this age you must be this mature or that age this psychologically level headed?
What is mature is very subjective. Some people can be 50 years old and still have the mentality of an 18 year old. On the whole I think the rate at which men and women mature is wholly dependent on the individual.
As to why age plays a role in relationships it's because women have this perception that only older men understand them (maturity factor), more fatherly, better able to support the family (more financially stable) and men well younger is always better right (physical factor)? Harsh but true.

Well, some women will strive for that "perfect" man for better part of their lives. But for me, I realized it when I was 31. I learned that I would rather give up certain superficial things and be with a man who is nice to me and doesn't play mind games. Someone who is real and doesn't act his best to impress me in the beginning of the relationship only to show is true colors later on. Someone who is low maintenance and not a drama queen.
So that is what I have, and he happens to be hot LOL.
When you don't have expectations you will spend less time and energy being dissappointed.

To each there own threshold of common sense, decency and wisdom.
Females are far more pretentious and affectatious than Males. They strive to appear to be "older" than They actually are.
Boys play cowboys and Indians whilst They still have Their childhood. Girls want to play "house" and be 'Princesses'. Males grow up with the certain knowledge that They are going the have to work to support Their Family. Females never quite get over playing 'dress-ups'.

Man we should put this question in some women community and ask them the same let them answer this. By the way i have never seen a women getting matured (talking mentally not physically)
