Your several years too late my friend.

~~Urban Legend~~

Intruder breaks into a restaurant, he breaks through the skylight window that over the kitchen. Intruder hops down onto a table in the kitchen below and cuts himself very badly on a knife. The alarm now going off, the intruder has no way to escape with his lacerated foot. Police find him, book him, send him to jail.
The intruder sues for pain and suffering for landing on the knife, siting by regulations of the restaurant the knife should have been in its proper place.
Intruder won the suit.

Yes, lawsuits are getting ridiculous -- but the problem is not the courts.

The problem is corrupt lawyers who are more interested in earning fat litigation fees than in seeing justice done.

For example -- no lawyer should every have taken the lawsuit for the woman against the dog training company -- the woman doesn't have standing to sue on any contractual or restitution remedy, and clearly assumed the risk under any negligence theory. It's a frivolous lawsuit.

But, in some cases, they way things are portrayed are not what's really happening. In many of the fast food lawsuits, yes, it's frivolous for the same reasons -- but in a few (often lumped together incorrectly) the lawsuit is based on fraud and false avertising -- which are valid claims.

I agree people today are suit happy. It is ridiculous people need to stop blaming other people for their stupid mistakes or accidents. If you order a coffee it will most likely be hot, DUH!!!
