Since it depends on so many things--clothing, wind, humidity, sun vs. shade and especially, duration, I don't think anyone has ever figured it out. Plus, you can't really sacrifice human lives trying to get an answer. Obviously people do live in deserts where it regularly gets 120+ F or in the arctic/antarctic where it is often well below -50 F.

However, people stationed in Antarctica have what they call 300 and 200 clubs. To join the 200 club you must subject yourself to a 200 degree F temperature differential NAKED. So go in a hot sauna, then run outside on a cold night. Likewise for a 300 club--apparently they go from a 200 F sauna to -100 F outside (briefly!). I'm a bit skeptical of the 300 club, but here's a reference:

Another crazy thing people do is ultramarathons. There's one in California called Badwater which is a 135 mile race from Death Valley, CA (below sea level) to a point on Mt. Whitney at 8360 ft. This is in July, when temperatures in Death Valley are frequently in the 120s and of course the race is out in the open, so they are exposed to sun. People apparently start hallucinating during the race--it's almost expected. I had a friend who did this actually--pretty amazing.
Here's the official Badwater site:

So I think the bottom line is that we can be exposed to pretty extreme temperatures--briefly. We can be exposed to less extreme temperatures for longer periods of time if we are properly equipped for it. Being acclimated, like the Badwater runners, helps for the heat, but I seem to remember we don't acclimate much to the cold.

particular, you could placed the pyrex dish into the freezer yet i would not advise putting it promptly right into a pre-heated oven. i've got tried it previously and cracked the dish. perfect to enable the dish take a seat at room temperature for an hour a minimum of or perhaps then it incredibly is volatile. it incredibly is incredibly helpful to place it into the oven on a similar time as the oven remains chilly so as that it's going to enable the glass to alter slowly to the temperature substitute. additionally, pyrex can purely take maximum of modifications in temperature previously it cracks altogether.

That would depend on many factors. Mankind survives from the Artic/Antartic to the Sahara dessert. With the proper food, shelter and equipment, they can survive most places. However exposed to the elements, with out protection, water or food, people cannot survive for long at tempratures below 4C or above 40C. In cold being exposed to wind, or getting wet, lowers the survival rate. And in the heat a lack of water will cause you to die much faster.

I will just try that with my husband. I will stick his feet in the oven and his head in the freezer and then I will get back to you.
