I have heard this before - the Americans love British accents and our country.

I agree that some of the British accents are really lovely, in the same way that some accents are not lovely. This is also true of American accents.

I am British like you and have been told by people I have got a nice accent. Some of my friends on line love the British accent and say it is sexy. Who am I to argue with that, I think they are right!

I was in America in 2001. Every single time I went to the shop, at least four Americans would end up in a converstation with me. tryng to continue shopping was impossible really it was.

It would seem that many Americans really DO love the British accents. Hey and they are quite good at telling you the region you come from too. I loved being there, so friendly and quite open too.

you never appreciate how nice your own voice is hun!!!! Im Irish and get told the exact same things by the Americans and even the British - so I think its probably just customary for people to comment on different accents!!
I personally ADORE the british accent - I think its the sexiest one going!

Some British accents are really nice, some are just awful. Depends on where the people are from.

It's probably because you have a wonderful voice, don't be modest. I really think it depends on the individual, and as other people have remarked, there are many regional variations anyway. I'll have to hear your voice sometime, and I'll let you know how quaint you sound. lol x

Very true .. but only some regional accents, I was in America with people from all over the UK.... I,m Welsh and although they had difficulty in understanding (talking too fast), they said it was lovely to listen too (wish my wife thought so) ...

Well..I don't know...I'm a tad English..and some of my friends prefer my British accent over my "American" one, while others say it drives them insane....other than that, I'm..not so sure

It never fails to amuse me when a dumbass yank says "Gee you`re English ,I love your accent!".
There IS no "english accent" to "love" since we ALL have diffrent regional ones and pretty much every yank who "loves" mine has never heard me speak !!!
I think because the majority of English people that they hear are speaking "Hollywood English" which bears no resemblance to anything you hear here in the UK (unless you`re an ACCTORRR darling!!!! LOL)

That's what the Yanks say. I can say I feel the same about their accent though. Sorry
