I've been leaving the basking lamp on 24/7 so far, but I'm wondering if its okay to turn it off at night since they should learn from day/night?

It's okay to turn it off! It turns night in the wild also! Turn it off when it'd night and they'll go to sleep. Good Luck!

Yes, you can turn the basking lamp off at night, but to keep the temperature in the tank from dropping dramatically, I would suggest you getting a night lamp, which gives off heat and is red for nocturnal instincts (be sure to get a smaller wattage than the basking lamp you have during the day).

Yes, turn your basking lamp off at night. If you leave the light on all the time, you are messing up the turtles internal clock. Be sure to purchase a night bulb to keep the tank at an appropriate temperature at night. This will emit a dim red light. If you look up information on your turtle, it should give you the day vs. night temp. I hope this helps!

I turn my turtles lamp off at night. I've watched him and he seems to really like the dark to sleep in and he seems to sleep in the water all the time anyway. Just make sure the room doesn't get too cold so he doesn't catch a chill and make sure you have a water heater and he should be fine.

Yes, turn off that light at night. Turtles sleep too, and it's normal for temperatures to drop at night.

Yes,turn it off.Turtles don't have sunlight 24/7 in the wild. The turtle will welcome the darkness so he can sleep. If you want, you can put a heating pad ( made just for tanks ) under the tank,so if he gets cold,he can have a warm spot even when it's dark. This is what I do for my box turtles.

They sell night time heat lamps that produce a dim red light if this would make you feel better. I believe they even have a porcelain lamp that produces no light but gives heat.

lamps can give turtles eye problems. You should get a heater and leave it on 24/7.
