Where I live, if you have a work permit issued by the government (city or state I can't remember), you can legally work at 14. However, fast food places have high risks such as burning yourself on a grill, frying your hand in grease, and slipping and knocking yourself out! Most fast food establishments don't want the hassle of hiring someone who is under 16. Our Taco Bell won't hire anyone younger than 16 because the legal restraints are so high that it isn't worth it. And yes, you can get hired for only 8 hours a week. We have girls who only work one night a week. Don't know what the point is, but they are still hired. Especially for Friday and Saturday nights - we desperately need people to work those shifts. I used to work around 20-22 hours a week, but with school starting back, I have cut down to 15-18 hours a week - usually from 5-10 3 nights a week, though I stay 'til close every once and a while. I hope this helps!!

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) sets wage, hours worked, and safety requirements for minors (individuals under age 18) working in jobs covered by the statute. The rules vary depending upon the particular age of the minor and the particular job involved. As a general rule, the FLSA sets 14 years of age as the minimum age for employment, and limits the number of hours worked by minors under the age of 16.

if you can get a work permit, its possible. Do you mind taking out the trash and being the lucky fella who has to carry all the odds and ends that they need at any given moment?
Its kinda like being at home being told what to do every two minutes for a couple hours a day - except you get paid to do it. The catch is YOU HAVE TO DO EXACTLY what they tell you to do - you can't try to put it off or scam your way out of doing it, like you do with your parents.
Good luck babe!!

no they do not higher anyone under 15 and usually dont higher 15 year olds. You wouldnt want to work there anyway. its degrading. you should try mowing peoples lawns when your 14. And when you reach 15 you should apply for another job. not mcdonalds

i didn't know you could work that young there but i guess times have changed. so... yes. as long school and home work are completed, grades are kept up. house chores are kept up and done. who's taking you to work and picking you up? are you going to stay awake during class? i hope so. i was 16 when i worked and it was hard at first but i did it so i know you will too. so good luck.
