Should someone with an IQ in the 70s be President of the USA?

Well, you are right about the devaluation of the Congress, the presidency, and the constitution by one person. Though Bush's IQ is probably in the 90's, along with his father's!

I have never seen such damage to this country in such a short amout of time. Vietnam was difficult, but we weren't building 600 concentration camps for our citizens!

I do not believe Bush has a 128 IQ, or anywhere near it!

Bush definitely has a low IQ. Obviously some here have never heard him speak, and mis-speak!

Learning disability:
There have been many reports that the president suffers from Dyslexia (severe difficulty with reading and writing). Most people suffering from Dyslexia eventually learn how to read and write, however in some cases, reading remains a chore and they get little pleasure from it. President Bush seems to belong to this group. He does not like to read books or newspapers and relies heavily on others to do it for him. For example, Bush said he believed that the CIA memo that warned of an imminent Al-Qaeda attack on 9/11 was 'read to him.'

The president has very poor penmanship. His handwriting is not bad like a doctor; rather, it is primitive hand writing like that of a child. A thank you card he sent to Dick Clark had only one sentence ... but it took both sides of a 4x6 card to write it. Bush has been questioned on this issue numerous times, and he continues on denying it. However, his response to one of these questions is most revealing:

"The woman who knew that I had dyslexia - I never interviewed her." - Orange, Calif., Sept. 15, 2000


President Bush's language deficit does not seem to be limited to Dyslexia. He often mixes two words to come up with a meaningless term, such as "misunderestimate." Entire books have been written about his malaprops (the misuse of words). He also has problems with verbal memory and syntax. The latest one of these errors was:

After taking office, the White House press corps complained that, unlike other Presidents, this one traveled into a country on government business and straight back out with no time to explore or learn about the country. When he traveled to Africa, he did three countries a day. He has never had a thirst for knowledge, once referring to Bob Woodward as a "fancy-pants intellectual."

A person's vocabulary and syntax have a high correlation with his general IQ. The problem of poor vocabulary is quite evident in Bush's communications. He demonstrates this difficulty vividly when explaining his point on important matters. In the absence of the right word, he often uses strong facial expressions to make his point. Considering Bush's poor vocabulary and syntax, one can postulate that his general IQ is probably at the lower end of the average range.

Indicators of shortcomings evident throughout Bush's life.
(1) Poor reading skills and lack of desire for general knowledge has made him almost intellectually illiterate. He required heavy tutoring in history, geography and international affairs before his run for office. Condoleezza Rice and Dick Cheney worked with him for a year to prepare him for the job. And since then these deficiencies have caused him to become dependent on his advisers for decision making. In the relationship between Vice President Cheney and President Bush, the more mature Cheney has become the dominant figure. Consequently, he has difficulty making decisions without Chaney (remember the seven minutes in the classroom while America was under attack?)

Your 'question' is really more of an insulting rant. The first problem is that you are starting with a false assumption; by all indications, GWB is above average intellect - though admittedly not by much. His clumsy speaking skills should not be taken as a sign of stupidity. Secondly, you are falsely trying to link intellect with religion, which you obviously have some issues with. Most Americans are Christians of some sort, and widely varying degrees of devotion. Bush, for all his flaws, most likely managed to get elected by appealing to common American values; and because he had such poor competition. Al Gore is a true intellectual defective, and Kerry is a bona fide traitor; and they're both even worse lairs than Bush. There are people I would rather have as President, but they haven't been running. Given some of the turds you have leading you in Europe, rapidly ceding your sovereignty and rights to a quasi-Socialist tyranny and your culture to Muslim invaders; I wouldn't be bragging about them if I were you. Europe has not elected a truly respectable leader since Thatcher.

The hoax email showed Bill Clinton having the highest IQ (at 182) and George W. Bush the lowest (at 91). As with most hoaxes, the numbers claimed in the email were not backed up by any evidence but appeared plausible to some people. In 2006, a real historiometric study published in the scientific journal Political Psychology, compared the estimated IQs of all US presidents since 1900. It rated G.W. Bush second last, with an estimated IQ between 111.1 and 138.5, and an average of 124.8 (which still is well above the standardized average of 100). According to the same study, the average estimated IQ of president Bill Clinton was 149. [9] In an interview, it was noted by the study's director that "Bush may be 'much smarter' than the findings imply" but that he "scores particularly unimpressively for 'openness to experience, a cognitive proclivity that encompasses unusual receptiveness to fantasy, aesthetics, actions, ideas and values.'" Other estimates of the IQ of G.W. Bush have been based on his SAT score of 1206 (566 for verbal and 640 for math),[10] which would equal an IQ of around 125-129.[11][12] Still another estimate, based both on his SAT scores and IQ-type tests that he took as a required part of applying for Air Force Officer Training School in 1968, concludes that Bush has an IQ somewhere between 120 and 130.[13] No official IQ data for George Bush is available, however.[14]

There has never been a president with a such a low IQ. That myth was debunked long ago. As much as I disagree with the current administration, I would rather focus on criticizing its policy rather than resorting to spreading unsubstantiated rumors and baseless personal attacks. It does your cause little good by doing so.

I find it sad that the man in charge of making the most important decisions has an IQ nearly 60 points lower than mine. Doesn't give me much faith that he will make the smartest decisions (as if he hasn't had a hard enough time proving that to me already).
