You'll have to cut out the map from the picture of the rest of your desktop.

Assuming you have nothing but what came with Windows

Hit your Print Scr key to load an image of the screen on to the Clipboard.
Open Paint and than click edit and than paste.
Edit and resize the drawing anyway you want.
click
File
Save as
Select gif format
click save.

To make it easier, you can use a 3rd party program like PrintKey

Get some kind of screenshot software, then take a screenshot while you are looking at the map, then cut out the part you need with Photoshop or even Paint. But you have to admit, Google maps is way way better.

Here is a small program called "Printkey." I have been using it for years and I couldn't get along without it. All you have to do is use the "rectangle" button and surround the part you want to save as a gif image and click on "save as."

BTW, it's free.

Capture the image with your keyboard. Hold down your Control key while holding down the "C" key. Then have your Word program open and go to it and, right click you mouse on the blank document and select Control and "V" and it should copy it to your word document.
