Yeah, I've been scratching my head for a good two minutes trying to answer this one. Humor me while I attempt to reason this out in public:

Killing Joke- The band nearly hit the ground running as one of those influential, "Why haven't I heard of those guys before?" type of bands that a lot musicians cited as an influence. Over the last 25 years, The Joke has evolved into a primal force of nature. I just spent the last few days listening to the last two studio albums (Hosanna and self-titled) off and on and I'm still picking my jaw up off of the floor. Killing Joke plays Big Music and they do it better than almost anyone I've ever heard.

Pigface- I enjoy the unbridled mayhem that makes up any given album or show. Such a large number of people getting together and harnessing their creativity for the sake of art is a beautiful thing. I had the good fortune to see Pigface a few years back in St. Louis, Mo., and it was incredible. It also helps that a good portion of the huge cast of Pigface has brought some considerable talent to the equation over the years.

Conclusion- Pigface, while being quite good on their own merit, are second to Killing Joke. I've never had the pleasure of experiencing The Joke perform live, but that's probably because I'm afraid of trying to handle so much at once. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm now going to go listen to Pandemonium again.

Compared to Arab Strap or Mclusky, these groups are on my radar. This is a very close and difficult decision. As much as I like Pigface, I'll have to give it to Killing Joke by a slight margin. The only reason is that the very nature of Pigface was a sort of a miscellaneous ensemble of guest hosts. As good as the music was, it was never really the same band twice (hence the name Pigface). Pigface is sort of the Letterman show for industrial music. Killing Joke is just too important across the board to deny, they fit into all of the best genres of rock. Plus, they did have the greatest song of the entire decade, Eighties, as well as Night Time. Yet like I said, very tough call. This Pigface song is among the best of all time.

I'll never look at The Sims quite the same way.

Musically speaking, killing joke. They were much more melodic. Pigface was a lot more aggressive, which is cool too. I loved them both, but anything that Al Jorgensen gets his hands on is bound to be cool.

For me Pigface, although Killing Joke is way more influential.

Pigface. With any line up. En Esch would have to be my favorite member though.

Killing Joke

They made the guitar lick that Kurt Cobain stole for "Come As You Are".
