Ok I was wondering what are other peoples views on gay marriage? You see, we aren't allowed to talk about it in school and during open discussion today, I wanted to bring it up. We were discussing how and why people don't accept others.

fact is people are often so unforgiving of differences in culture, language, religion, ethnicity or sexual origin that they will start wars simply to enforce their own (usually distorted) view of how the world should be.

Personally as lkong as the government purports to provide equality for all, then the gender of the couple getting married should not be an issue. However many people, from their own (often religious) perspective seem to feel that gay relationships are as immoral as civil rights (yes they used the bible to try to prove black people were inferior and shoudl remain as property). But to them I say keep yrou religious views separate from governemt; we do not need the next civil war fought on religious grounds.

Gay marriage can be performed in all 50 states, it just won't be recognized by the government. Any 2 gay people are free to get "married" if they can find someone willing to perform the ceremony. The only part where government comes in is for the benefits, which aren't available (except in 5-6 states).

My daughter recently entered into a gay marriage in the state of Illinois. I, as her mother and as a woman of free spirit ( I guess you would say), am all for what makes two people happy. I don't feel there should be limits to who gets married, what genders are to be married and so on... Love has one name and no shame! I feel if two are happy then live and let live, for there is only ONE JUDGE and no-one on this earth is that ONE JUDGE!!! Best of luck to all "gay marriages"!!!

Gay marriage is currently legal in all 50 US states. Any gay man can marry any lesbian woman (as long as they aren't closely related).

What's banned in most states is same-sex marriage -- which is pure gender-based discrimination. Sexual orientation is not mentioned in the statutes. Only gender.

And there is absolutely no valid legal reason to ban marriage based on either gender or sexual orientation.

The only valid reasons to oppose it are based on religious bias against homosexuality, which has nothing to do with providing legal benefits to two people who want to register their union with the state.

Gay marriage....hm...I don't really care. If two people love each other and want to get married, why should others stop them? Some people think it's disgusting or whatever because of religion or just because.
