In God of War 2, how do you get past the waterway puzzle?

Im in the ruins of the forgotten and im in this circle room with the button in the middle of the room, theres another button on the left side but theres bars sticking upward. the problem is after you kill the enemies on the right side and you put the dead person on the center button. you jump on the left button and the door opens up, but its impossible to get to the door fast enough.

Bring the dead body to right and lie it down in the stream flowing down. Head to the left and wait for the dead body to come around the stream.
