if a guy acts really sweet around you but insults you when he's around his friends. is he a jerk or is he just being a guy in general?

Is this the birthday guy? It sounds like you shouldn't waste your time. You are worth so much more than that. And if he would ask you why the cold shoulder, be honest. You know what he said about you, you were hurt, you thought he was someone special. And move on. The moving on is the best for both of you. He gets the point, you get your mind off him and on to others who deserve your time.

It depends, what type of insults are they? If they are sexual in nature... chances are he's just being a guy. If they are just general insults about your appearance or intelligence or something then... he's probably being a jerk and doesn't like you

Not a jerk...but immature...Guys should not be that way, even in general. That "guy" should grow up.
Jerk connotes sumone being stupid. But when a guy acts really sweet around you but insults you when he's around his friends is not stupidity. Its immaturity..

He is a jerk, but depending on the guy, he may be trainable. Just tell him that you don't appreciate the way he treats you in front of his friends, and that if it continues, he can start looking for some dumbass girl that will put up with it.

He's a jerk. Most guys are jerks. However, real men are what you should seek. Real men don't insult or humiliate women at any time or in any place.

he's being a jerk. trust me. i've seen it before. he's just saying those things so he sounds cool in front of his friends. but in the long haul it's not cool.
