It seems like Iraq is worse than ever. At least 500 people were recently killed in a truck bombing and the country is still wracked by violence. Obviously what we're doing isn't working, but what's next?

Ian C: It doesn't matter how many terrorists we kill. This isn't a video game. For every terrorist we kill there are 2 angry family members to take their place. And isn't it better to stop the war now and prevent another 3000 troops from dying instead of continuing the war BECAUSE of the troops that died. And by the way, the comment about fox news being unbiased actually made me laugh out loud, thanks.

It will continue in its civil war for probably another 4~8 years, by which point either one faction will have risen to dominance, or several factions will have carved out their own niche territories.
Our presence does nothing but delay and prolong the conflict. Our military is currently stretched to its limit, and every pentagon report says we cannot sustain current troops levels much past January 2008 -- after which point, casualties will continue rising as they have been for 4 years.
Democracy cannot be exported -- it can only be imported. Iraq is not emotionally or politically ready to be a democracy, and no amount of us attempting to force them is going to change that.

Actually, what we are doing IS working. It's just not working like you think. There is continued and escalating violence in Iraq because there are factions of Iraqis who don't want us there. So long as we have a significant (and possibly any) presence in Iraq, that presence will continue the trend of violence.
In other words, we have spent well enough time there to know that our job is done. We are no longer making the situation better for Iraq or its people. It is time for us to pull out and let them deal with their own country. But, if we pull out, that also means that all the oil contractors running the wells will no longer be welcome. So, they'll have to leave too. The current administration is too oil conscious to ever let that happen.
It seems we have to wait until the 2008 elections and inauguration of the new President before we'll see any significant US military changes in Iraq.

Well hopefully it will eventually get itself together. I really hope a few rightwing American families move out there especially Christians. I'd guess Cheney will retire to Dubai so he can be with all his buddies in Saudi Arabia and his other three wives.
All the best to the Iraqi people. It's their country let them get it together and build it the way they want it.

You know, we all have the ability to change the future of Iraq, not only Iraq, but this country and even the whole world!! You know how we can do it? By voting. But who should we vote for samuel? I'll tell you who to vote for, a Great Man by the name of Ron Paul. So cool, he has 2 first names. He is against the Iraq war and he understands that America is not the police of the world. The key to making peace is not through war, but through peace. If your interested, search for ron Paul on youtube and google, and you'll discover what millions already have: A honest and intelligent president who serves YOU.

Thanks to the main stream media, everyone hates bush, and is Making a new vietnam. We are trying to build a democracy for the Iraqi people, and terrorists are sdestroying that. the mission is succeeding. Since January of this Year, uS Forces has killed or captured over 10,000 Al Qaida Terrorists. We need to send more troops in to finish the job, but the mainstream media is molding little kids minds to hate republicans and bush and the war. So when Hilary Clinton iSs elected president, she will pull us out of the war, and our 3,000 men will have died for nothing, thanks to the people. It sure is better to die for your country to win a war than it is to die for a 'lost' war. Support iraq, and many people will have freedoms like ours, and our troops will have won, and support the war. its our only chance to win this unpopular war. Support it, and then good things will happen. Watch Fox, not CNN. (its so BIASED)
Please consider what im saying.

If it "seems" that Iraq is worse than ever, then you're not paying attention. What's next is another 6 Iraqi divisions trained, then we leave.
But I guess Communist News Network hasn't told you that. Strange they would leave the measurable goal out of their reporting.

I can't predict the future, but it's possible that Iraq may be partitioned into Sunni, Shia, and Kurdish territories.
