In your best tone of voice, tell them what a good job they did in the past and that you realize that just about everything goes up just about every month. But also tell them that things don't brighten up around the job site, money will decline and there will be lay offs which you'd hate to do. Tell them you appreciate their hard work and should there be anything that needs discussing you could hold a meeting to iron out any problems. Better still, put a suggestion box somewhere on the wall, and tell the sales staff to put their suggestions etc, in the box and that they don't need to sign their names. I believe a bosses tone of voice plays alot to boast moral of employees. A boss got to be friendly and open. Have some coffee breaks with them boss. Let them see you as one of them. They already know you're the boss. Nothing like hanging you hair down once in awhile. Good luck.

Recently a nearby town had people submit ideas to make the town exciting, interesting and a place to visit. The results were phenominal and even now some are being put into motion. Even us out-of-towners can't wait!-

Have bull sessions for throwing out ideas and you may be awed at what comes out of it. It can be done with or without previous notice-
sometimes "off the top of the head" can bring forth a startling concept!

I have never care for the bonus concept-people paid to do a job should do it-and not have to be conjoled or bribed,if so they are not
the kind I would want to hire. Loyal people should wants a company to grow and be an exciting part of it.

I find that people respond better to positive incentives rather than threats. My mom always said you catch more flies with honey than vinegar so bonuses or extra days off or other positive reinforcement works better for me!
