Thank you all so much for your help. Just one more question.

So this is the processor that is in the laptop I bought. From ya'lls previous responses it seems that most of you say that the Core 2 Duo is superior to the Centrino, but from some responses, I am led to believe that some Centrino Duo models are built on a Core 2 Duo Processor? Am I correct in this assumption?

This is the processor I bought...

So does this mean the Centrino Duo Processor I bought is built on the Core 2 Duo platform and if this is so, does this mean it has any advantages over the regular Intel Core 2 Duo processor?

Thanks again!

Okay let me make this short and simple. Centrino is NOT the name of a processor, though the confusion is easily understood because of the way Intel markets it.

Centrino is a branding scheme for notebooks. To qualify for the Centrino lable, a notebook must meet certain specs in three areas, processor, chipset, and wi-fi. Centrino has gone through a few generations, and with the advent of dual core processors is now called Centrino Duo. To qualify for the current Centrino Duo label, in the processor area the laptop must have a Core 2 Duo, such as the one you bought. Hope that clears it up, if you have further questions, IM or email me.
