and do only one thing, what would it be? Would you assassinate Adolf Hitler? Would you invest a in Microsoft in its initial public offering? Would you take the bullet for Lincoln or Kennedy? Would you introduce cures from modern medicine to prevent horrible epidemics? Would you prevent any instances of genocide? Would you go to an Elvis concert? Would you smoke a joint with Jesus right before He was crucified? Would you wait until after the Reserection?
Would you simply do whatever it takes to not lose you first true love so that you could always be in love?
Please understand whichever act you perpetrate will have far-reaching ramifications, so choose wisely.

I would not go out and be with my ex, the father of my child. It not only ruined my life, but also brought heartache, shear emotional torture and other consequences. If I could go back in time and change that one thing, I would be so much better off now- emotionally, financially, physically, .................

There is nothing I would change......
NOT because I don't acknowledge attrocities or recognise despicable people.. but because i KNOW where we are as a result of what has taken place....
Assassinating Hitler wouldn't guarantee a smoother 2007 ... who knows Goebells might have taken the reigns and been worse or he may have done something different to Hitler and won the war.....
as for preventing the holocaust .. lovely thought .. BUT tampering with history .. WHAT if one of those who died in the holocaust had of grown up and become evil but FROM another point .. WHO KNOWS.. (NB PLEASE DO NOT MISUNDERSTAND my answer .. I am NOT condoning the holocaust IN ANYWAY...
Even something as simple as attending an Elvis concert... places ME in a different spot .. standing in the spot where somebody else stood .. Placing them in another spot .. WHO knows how even something so innately simple as that could alter history... what consequences could arise from the different positioning .. even placing me on the road to and from the concert.. placing other people in different positions...
what is done is done is done... we know where we stand...we know how we got here...
go back and change it all and there'd be no guarantee you would even be here....
My dad met my mum .. when he came to the town she grew up in .. to work on an airbase that was built by the americans they came to australia during ww2....
take Hitler out of the picture and MAYBE the Japanese wouldn't have been as keen to attack Pearl harbour ( ie allied troops more free to combat the Japanese)..
the americans may not have seen the need to build that air base
my dad would not have worked at that air base
my parents would never had met (least not in the same time frame)
and I would NOT be spinning my mind out answering your question :)

~Assuming I wanted to return to the present, why would I go back and change anything? As soon as I made even the most insignificant change, the ripple effect over the succeeding centuries would make the present that I left non-existent. If I did get back "home" I wouldn't recognize the place. Thus, from the new present that I returned to, I would have to go back and stop me from making that change in the first place. Oops, by doing that, I'll have created a third version of the present. Of course, the interrupted time continuum would continue to exist and move forward, as would the new one I created, and the third one I created by trying to prevent me from changing the first. But it's good that you are concerned with such a profound and earthshaking concept instead of doing something constructive with your time.
And so it goes.

There are too many places to go back in time to historically and in my own personal life to choose just one. If I could, however, I would go back to the year 2000 when my grandmother was sick with cancer. I would have bought a plane ticket to El Salvador to spend more time with her before she passed away. Or maybe even before that to warn her what would happen and maybe she would still be alive today. That unfortunately will only remain a fantasy and will never happen.

So the question here that's being asked,
Is "What would you do, and why?"
I'll tell once, and twice again.
I'd give nothing new a try.
History was meant to be,
Changing it is blasphemy.
The power should be given to not a single man,
To alter, or twist or warp or change our God's Incredible Plan.

I'm really interested in the post world war II-world war II era, for some reason. So I would want to go back and experience how life would've been then.
But I wouldn't want to change anything because it can change the future!

If I could go back into time, I would go back to sophmore year in high school, and be completely opposite of what I was then. Maybe if I had done things right then I would not be trying so hard now to do what is best for me and my family.

Dangerous stuff. Changing any past event would create repercussions you could not foresee. You would be trading one horrible event for another by setting this in motion.
