What to do with old Dish DVR?

I no longer subscribe to DishNetwork. What can I do with my old DVR? Can I use it to record shows from cable TV?

Sell it on EBay or try to get a credit from Dish Network or a Dish Network Installer if it is a current model.

No; it will not work with most cable systems. And most cable system DVRs will not work with each others systems either; by design of course.
