She hasn't done any volunteer work and she's already a junior in high school. She loves acting. So, I'm trying to find this for her. She's willing to go anywhere around Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley.

Acting in a play is not considered volunteer work and sorry to tell you but the competition for roles in theatre in and around Los Angeles is fierce. You can't just walk in and tell them that you volunteer to be in their show. You have to audition like everyone else. You need professional headshots, resumes, & training. You also need to know how to audition (sing 16 or 32 bars of a song, have your music prepared, have contrasting monologues ready, be prepared to dance, whatever is required)

Like I said, it will not count as volunteer work but if you still want to look for auditions you can go to www.backstage.com and do a casting search or go to www.actorsaccess.com and set up a free account then look at the breakdowns. There are some theatrical calls listed there.

Volunteer work generally needs to be a service for others, not enjoyment for one's self. Now if she were to put on a show at a retirement home that's different. She could volunteer to entertain at a hospital, perhaps in the children's ward or something like that. Maybe she could teach them something as well.

good luck

Have you tried craigslist? You can search by city, and there are ALWAYS requests for volunteers.
