you can not but if you have a gamecube pokemon coloseum a link cable to a gameboy advance to a gamecube you can get the starting pokemon from sivler gold and crystal but you have to beat coloseum to do that and at first you have to choose the second evolve form of one of the starter then when you beat the game you can beat the other guys who had the other two pokemon and steal it from him because you dont catch wild pokemon you catch shadow pokemon and make it turn nice again so when the pokemon turn nice you can then trade it to the ruby sapphire emerald firered and leafgreen by trading not transfer pokemon coloseum is like another pokemon game, but you have to beat the game to trade pokemon anyway and you can get the three legenday dogs and ho ho and celebi but i never got them but i heard you can

Sorry, games before Ruby and Sapphire cannot interact with Ruby and Sapphire and up. To get a Totodile, you play Emerald ( Ihaven't gotten mine yet, so I don't know how, sorry :( )
