A gifted student comes across a Death God's notebook which allows him to kill other people, mearly by writing their names in it. He begins killing off all the villians in the world, and the police, led by young geniuses of their own try to stop him from doing what they believe is wrong.

There are only 37 episodes, in all, of this fabulous anime: Death Note.
Though the storyline might be a little put-offish, the whole thing is great: like a Japanese 24. No parts lag. Suspense all around.

The show is about a genius student named Light who is bored and thinks life is just rotten and wants to do something about the bad in the world. He finds a notebook that says: Whoever's name is written in this book will die.
Light then goes on a quest to kill every wrong doer in the world and plans to go on and claim himself as a god in a flawless new world he will create.

But, of course, where there is a tyranny, there is a rebellion. On the opposing side, a detective only known as L searches for this mysterious killer that only goes by the name Kira.
L is a genius too, and has solved every unsolved mystery in the world. Light finds his way into the team L is working with and tried to misdirect the team so they find out that he is not Kira.

The anime is the. best. Fast paced, great drawing, great story. There is a manga, live action film, and a japanese anime that will soon be dubbed here in the United States.

Death note is a series about a young man named Yagami Raito. He accidentally finds on the ground the "Death note".
With that he can kill anyone he wishes only by knowing their real name and face by writing the name on the note. He started killing criminals at first and then everyone that stood in his way. Raito had a problem in my oppinion, he thought by killing evil people the current society would get better... (while it was sociaty's fault of producing evil)
Anyways, soon enough a brilliant detective named L declared "war" to Kira(Raito was called this way by the media because the identity of the mass murderer was unknown) And then it gets really intence... L was brilliant and he even considered Raito his prime suspect but he was outsmarted in the end.... It gets so interesting and you never know what's neck.... but to watch the anime you should be prepared because many people died in a way that they didn't even slightly deserve....

it's about a teenage named "Light", he found a note in which he can kill anyone with just writing his name and remembering his face while writing in that note which called the "death note", and each death note has a shinigami "death god" and when you own the death note you can talk to the shinigami and communicate with him, anyways, after knowing that, "light" begins to write the bad guys' names in the death note to eliminate them and make a good world with purity without any problems, but a man appears called "L" who tries to capture "light" and stop him, because "L" thinks that this is a job of the court and justice, and should give the criminal another chance to get to the right path, and "light" doesn't like the way "L" treats him, so he decides to kill him also, and here where the real story begins.....
there's a lot of interesting things I didn't tell you, but I think that's the main story!

Death Note is the MOST AMAZING anime I've ever seen! Its about this guy (Light or Raito in the manga) that finds this note book at his school one day. Inside it says that whoevers name is written down in the book will die. It starts out with just a few good deeds like kill mass murderers and stuff. But then he goes crazy with power and starts killing alot of people.

The media starts to refer to him as 'kira' and thats where L comes in. He's this genius detective that starts on the 'kira case'. I can't say much more than that or I would ruin the series for you.

But all in all its a really good anime and its really unique. The kind that make you just sit back and go "whoa I can't believe this." Every episode is interesting and the animation is suberb http://www.deathnote.tv/list.php is a good website to go to for episodes and you don't have to download them. They are in japenese (english subbed). But I heard the dubbed version that they'll be putting out and it sucks.
