Did anybody besides me wear white "buck" shoes, that had a little bag of white powder to put on the shoes of they should ever get a single spot? Also I remember wearing long straight skirts with sweaters buttoned down the back, and with the white "buck" shoes and socks rolled down as low as they could get.

OMG those horrible saddle oxford shoes too! Now I thought my boyfriend at the time was quite the rebel wearing his D.A., black leather jacket with his white tshirt with the sleeves torn off. He was quite the leader of the pack!!

How about switchblades, playing 'chicken,' wearing button-down sweaters backwards and rolling your skirt up at the waist (once you left home)? I also remember girdles, gloves, and hats. Crinolines, saddle shoes and garter belts. How about using juice cans to roll your hair held into place with bobbie pins - then sleeping that way? I remember laying my head on an ironing board to straighten my hair. Geez, I just remember the elastic belts that held those thick napkins in place - always felt like a (full) diaper. Yikes - that's enough of that...

...putting thumbtacks in heels of shoes to make that clickety-thump sound down the halls at school...it all went SO well with the black leather jackets.. and lowered Chevys with ominous gray primer instead of wussy paint finishes...switchblade knives went well with this regalia... besides brothel-creepers, how 'bout winkle-pickers & the famous quiff? Many of us majored in parking lot at school.. you remember the drill, 6 louts lounging about the fenders of seniors' cars between/during/after/instead of class? Lumberjack shirts with the tails out...combs in every pocket.. Vitalis plastered on so that comb-strokes stayed put even in a 20-knot gale. The sissies had crew cuts and chinos and carried their books like girls...

Remember them well, still own a black leather jacket, & used to have a DA hair cut. The rest were too girly for this tomboy.

My two girlfriends and I got DA's once when we were suppose to get our waist length hair trimmed. And, guys wearing pink chords, and white bucks, only tennis shoes were high tops for gym, no jeans at school for girls had to wear dresses, and yes nylons in 2 pieces and spring o later shoes that had rhinestones in them and looked like glass, 15 starched slips under a full skirt, tight skirts you could barely walk in and on and on--gone but not forgotten. ha!!
