I found that moss works really well. I prefer the brown spagnum moss because it has natural anti-bacterial properties but green moss will also work. They both hold moisture very well, soak some and then squeeze out the excess water to use it.

With my snake I use moss... it works very well and it keeps the humidity at where it needs to be at 70% for mine.

All you have to do is wet the moss right before you put it in the cage and just spread it around.
