So my obgyn wants me to come into the office to see if I ovulated this cycle......I've already received a positive opk...It's cd 17 today....What exactly will she do to confirm that I ovulated: Ultrasound or blood test? Can docs really confirm EXACTLY what day you ovulate?

** Yes, I will call the obgyn tomorrow to ask but just wanted to throw this question out tonight....just curious, can't wait till tomorrow :)

I would also like to add something:

If I had a positive opk on cd 15 and go to the doc on cd 24.....if she does an ultrasound, can she see the implantation on the uterus lining at that time or would that be too soon?

Your doctor can tell if you ovulated two ways: 1) by ultrasound. By measuring your uterine lining they can tell if you ovualted. Your lining level goes up after ovulation in order to sustain a pregnancy. If you had an ultrasound prior to ovulating then they can measure the follicle sacs and tell if you did and give an estimate on when. However they cannot tell you if there is implantation yet. The sac won't be able to be seen until the minimum of week 5-maybe week 6. 2) by bloodwork-testing your progesterone level. Progesterone is responsible for building your uterine lining so if your lining is up your progesterone will be up too. Just because you tested postive on an OPK does not guarantee you ovulated. Good luck!!!

She'll probably do a blood test for progesterone to check whether you've ovulated (not to check exactly which day it was). After ovulation, the progesterone level in your blood should increase, and so it is typically tested 7 days past ovulation. If the results of the test show low progesterone levels, it would indicate that maybe you didn't actually ovulate. If you had a positive OPK, then likely you'll be fine, but I know sometimes the OPK tests can be wrong.

She could also do an ultrasound to look at your follicles, but pretty much the standard procedure is a simple blood test. Good luck!

If your doctor asked you to come in CD24 it sounds like she's going to check your progesterone level. After ovulation, progesterone rises. If your level is low, it means you didn't ovulate. If it's elevated, it means you did. Doctors usually check progesterone levels for ovulation confirmation between CD21-24. It's a simple blood test.

No test can confirm the EXACT date of ovulation. An ultrasound can confirm that it's about to happen by the size of your follicles and a progesterone blood test can determine that it has happened by your progesterone level.

Good luck.

She can see if you released an egg by ultrasound. She can't tell you an exact date, but it was probably the day after the positive OPK.

LOL. you're fake impact the term burning a cd. you're no longer meant to relatively burn the cd you've got a cd burner on your pc that copies the preparation from one cd to the sparkling one in the different slot. It does not actaully burn the cd because of the fact it may do precisely the comparable element as what's occurring to you. do no longer hassle I take issues actually lots too.
