Shooting stars are a streak of light caused by debris entering Earth's atmosphere. Most debris is caused by comet tail stuff that was blown off from the solar wind as the comet made a pass around the Sun. When Earth passes through that debris we see meteors. What you are seeing is a meteoroid that causes a flash or streak of light called meteor. As far as wishes coming true...who can say. Give it a try. You cannot tell anyone what your wish was otherwise it will not come true. So it must remain a secret to yourself.

I wished often wished on a shooting star would be a killer asteroid that would land and take out the state of Maryland. Guess what, it has not happened.

I saw 60 of them during the persieds and wished to be 20 feet tall.
It never happened.
plus its a rock burning in the atmosphere as its flying towards earth. not a star.

I wish that were so but God only acts according to HIS will. Not your will but thy will be done, it doesn't hurt to ask and hope that he will grant you with what you desire but don't be disappointed when it doesn't happen. And remember, just because it does not happen doesn't mean that he didn't listen. We do not know what God has in store for us until it happens, but that's what we call faith. Trust in HIM and you shall receive, even though it might not be what you want God is righteous and you may expect a better outcome than what you have expected.
