I'm 40 1/2 weeks pregnant and still have not dialted, baby has dropped and is head down ready to come out. I just saw my doctor 2 days ago and shes giving me 1 week before they induce labor. The problem with that is, if they induce and i'm not dialeted, i'm going to have to get a c-section. that is so not something i want. I've read all these tips on starting contractions, but i need tips on opening up my cervix... anybody?

evening primrose oil! you should've started this at 38 weeks but if you start right away it may help. you can get it at walmart in the vitamin isle. just poke it with a needle and put it high up in your vagina as close to the cervix as you can reach before bed it disolves. it has GLA that's supposed to help ripen the cervix here's a good page. http://www.maternitycorner.com/mcmag/articles/preg0007.html
i know you said the bb dropped and head down but walking might help since gravity will help put the pressure of the baby down into your cervix and help it open. walk walk walk! also you might be one of those women who's cervix is hard and closed forever then one day BAM! it's opens up fast and is all set and ready. ask the dr. about that gel they use to help ripen the cervix, i forget what it's called i think it starts with a P. goodluck!

Semen. The prostaglandins in semen is the best thing to soften and dilate the cervix. Not to mention that your orgasms can kick start labor. Have sex an have it often.

Oh yeh, evening primrose oil too! I forgot about that, I used it in my last pregnancy. Get the capsules and rub it on your cervix or squeeze it in if you don't have any help. Be careful not to break the water!

I would suggest sitting on a Big speaker and put some mellow tune's on.
A young girl did something like that to incubate chicken egg's and the project worked out well. I'd suggest some Roxy Music. Or Enigma 1st.
