I am reading a poem called, "The Choice" by Dorothy Parker and I do not understand what it means. Can someone explain it to me please?

She was talking about how he gave her everything she ever wanted or anyone would want and in the end she chose someone else and she now knows she made a mistake. She says in the end that she needed her head checked. He gave her everything but as soon as this other guy came a round and he called to her she followed him instead of the one who gave her everything. Hope it was the right poem you were talking about.

It is about a woman being chased by two different men, a rich man and a poor man. At the end she chose the poor man, and she thinks that it was a bad choice. I don't know why she would though, it seems that the poor man loved her and the rich man was just trying to buy her affection. I would rather be broke with some one I love than rich with a person I hated.

If you're reading the correct poem, it is painfully obvious what she meant. She says she could have had a guy with lots of money but took the one who attracted her more...and that someone should check her head. What does that mean to you? I'm sure you can relate to what she's saying if you really try.
