Since I have always like character actors I would go with Paul Muni, Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino, Spencer Tracy, James Stewart, Marlon Brando, Anthony Hopkins, Bobby DeNiro, Jack Nicholson, Jeoffrey Rush Charles Laughton, Morgan Freeman and one of the very best, but so underrated, Gary Oldman.
For the ladies, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Meryl Streep, Ingred Bergman, Ruth Gordon, Thelma Ritter, Ann Revere,
Glenn Close, Hillery Swank. Barbara Stanwick and Jessica Lange.
But if you got to have just one, that is tough. For the men it would be a tie between Hoffman and Oldman.
For the ladies, a tie between Bette Davis and Thelma Ritter.
