My son is playing pee wee football in the 6-7 age group. He is on the offensive line and I was looking for some extra things to show him. You know like how not to be taken down or any hints on blocking. Also how to block a player that is bigger than him. Any help would be great. thanks ahead of time.

to help him block a guy that wil be roughly the same size as him he will need to win the battle of the hands.

if you are an o-lineman and you get your hands on his chest before he can get his hands on you, you have total control of the defender and the battle is almost won

if you are facing a guy that is bigger than you the same rule applies, get your hands on him before he can get his hands on you. except now you are going to have to try and get low(very very low)the guy that has the most leverage can win any battle

I played offensive line through college. The 4 best tips I could give are:
1) Quickness - beat your man off the ball, you know the snap count, he doesn't
2) Position - keep your weight balanced, your legs under you, and you between your opponent and the ball.
3) Leverage - if you get position and leverage on your opponent, even if he is bigger and/or stronger than you, you'll win the battle.
4) Persistance - you won't win every battle but never quit, never let up, never back down

Low Man Wins. Stay as low as possible and you will be able to block anyone. Another thing is to keep your feet shoulder width apart at all times and take short, choppy steps (6 in. steps). That is about it.

In pass blocking punch him alot with open hands. In run blocking try to knock him backwards until the whistle blows and the play is over.
