I'm a girl, and my first name is Wesley. My middle name is Anna, and that's what I go by (it's a long story). I'm starting high school in a week, where almost no one knows me. It's always difficult for me with new teachers/subs because they call me Wesley rather than Anna, or if I sign forms or tests, I'm never sure which one to go by. Should I switch to Wesley? I've never really like the name Anna, and I think a name like Wes would be cool. What do you think? Does it sound too boyish or nerdy? Or would it be a good name?

Anna is too boring.... use Wesley. I like boys names for girls, anyway. I've never heard that used for a girl before. It doesn't sound "nerdy".

My name is Carson, and a friend of mine has a daughter named Jesse (just Jesse, not short for Jessica....). We like boys' names for us chickies in my neck of the woods!!!

I think Wesley would be a really pretty name for a girl. I'm not sure about using Wes though. It sounds slightly awkward as a girl name. I would go for it. I wanted to change to going by my middle name when I entered high school, and I have always sort of regretted not doing so.

I like Wesley or WesleyAnna (all as one). It's somewhat unique. And I think the boy's name may be Westley. Either way, you have to choose what you are most comfortable with, but if you don't like Anna and think Wes would be a cool nickname, go for it! Changing schools is a great time to make the transition.

yes it definatly sounds like a boys name.
I am not sure what your parents were thinking.
There are people who can pull off unusual names and make the name work for them. You can do that. If you aren't comfortable with that- I would say choose a version of your name. I love the name Anna, but then that is me.

You can have your school records changed. I know people who go by their middle names.
You can be Wess
or Anna
or Lee
or Annalee
I like Annalee
Or Ann
I believe that high school is a great time to change your name to what you want to use.

I have a nick name and some people use it and others don't.
And I go through phases when I don't want it used or I want it used.

Go with your heart

I don't even like the name Wesley for a boy; for a girl it's postively cringe-worthy. Anna is absolutely gorgeous, I would definitely go by that.

I like Wesley!! I really like Wesley-Anna like one name. You need to do what you feel comfortable doing though.....try calling yourself, by different names in the mirror, and see what you like.
I don't think, in this day and age, any name can be strictly boy or girl.

Good Luck

Sorry, but Wesley is a boy's name. There's nothing the least bit feminine about it. I'd definitely stick with Anna.

And no disrespect to your parents, but why in the world do people think the -ley or ly ending automatically makes a name feminine?! Why are people giving all these boy names to girls? It's like they're saying being a boy is better than being a girl. I take offense to that.
