now it turned off wont power on and i dont know what to do and i was wondering how do i take the top off to see into the washer?

It sounds like one of its internal hoses (secured by clamps) came off or split open.

Typically you find two catches in the front near the top that can be pushed back so the top can pivot back on hinges to see what is happening there. If you look at the front you will see where the top part meets the middle section. Press a spatula in at that dividing line and the catches will unhook from near the corners.

I think you would get a better view not from the top but from the back. Turn the washer around and take off the metal plate that covers the back (held on by sheet metal screws). From there you can see the full length of the hoses.

It could be unbalanced.....that happens sometimes.
It could be the belt behind the washer.

Mine did the same thing, and before I called a washing
machine mechanic...I had a friend look at it..it was unbalanced.
Hope that is what it is.
It's really a mess and a pain when it happens
Sincerely hope you can fix it without spending extra money.

go to the back of the washer, take screws off and remove back, you dont go from the top,

I don't think you should do that... if you can't get the lid off what makes you think you could fix it? You would probably shock yourself too!

probaby a split (broken) hose.
