Well, the PS3's RSX chipset is very similar to a Geforce 7800, just a bit faster. Of course that's pretty dated now, so most cards currently in the $150-$200 range surpass it.

The strongest performer in that price range is the Radeon X1950XT, followed by the GeForce 7950GT. Those are really your only two choices. The ATI card is faster, about $20 more expensive but noisy, so the Nvidia card might be the pick for you... I've linked the head-to-head comparison from gpureview.com for reference below.

Nvidia's 8000 series cards aren't options in this case- the 8800GTS is awesome but too expensive (around $270) while the affordable 8600GT is much too slow.

i could say it incredibly is probable the ATI Radeon HD 3850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3. Its appropriate for sub $two hundred. in case you could stretch slightly extra, i could choose for the ATI Radeon HD 3870 or the nVidia GeForce 8800GT. The ATI 2900 and 1950 are sturdy bets additionally. The 8600 isn't an incredible card, it incredibly is decrease priced and the 3850 is exceedingly much double the overall performance of the 8600GT version.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143090

GeForce 7950GT 256MB $179.99

If you want DirectX10:

GeForce 8800GTS 320MB $279.99

DO NOT get anything like the GeForce 8600, 8500, or 8400, because those cards completely suck [donkey] even if they support DX10 and can easily be outperformed by the 7950GT.
8800GTS 320MB is the lowest I'd get. For a little more money, you can get the 640MB version.
