No, my friend. You cannot create a save situation for yourself.

No you cant. The three main rules for a save are:
1. An inning pitched with the score seperated by no more than 3 runs.
2. A two inning save with i believe with a total of four basemen and you get out of it is a save.
3. Any score difference if your closer pitches 3 innings.
Does the answer help?

Rule 10.19.1 states that a pitcher can get a save when he enters the game with his team leading by three runs or less.. If he enters the game with four or more runs, he is ineligble for a save.. even if his team wins by 1 run (hard to justify giving a save if you gave up 3 runs anyhow.) For a complete official look at how a save is awarded. here it is..
10.19 Saves For Relief Pitchers
A save is a statistic credited to a relief pitcher, as set forth in this Rule 10.19.
The official scorer shall credit a pitcher with a save when such pitcher meets all four of the following conditions:
(a) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his team;
(b) He is not the winning pitcher;
(c) He is credited with at least a third of an inning pitched; and
(d) He satisfies one of the following conditions:
(1) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning;
(2) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batters he faces); or
(3) He pitches for at least three innings.

In theory and according to rule 10, no. But with some gift scoring by BWAA members, I suppose it has happened in the bigs. In the minors, college, high school and little league, scorers who do not pay attention to rule 10 or don't know it will give anybody a save.

it's still a non save situation, but once you let up the trying or go ahead run, it's a blown save. if you are pulled after putting it in a save position, the next pitcher could be credited with a save.
