I have two crucial rendition 1GB RAMs, and ASUS P5RD2-VM motherboard. When I switch RAMs (memory slots) windows fails to start (registry file is missing or corrupt). When I switch them back, problem disappears. I've tried this trick several times, and it's always the same, so, why does it happen?

When they are on the right slots, all the pins are in perfect alignment and contact. It is possible that the other way around, one or more pins in DIMM 0 are not in proper contact, causing the error.

Most likely means one of your memory sticks are corrupt. Use memtest to confirm.

RMA the faulty one.
