I don't mind R rated movies(Gladiator or 300), even scary movies(6th sense), or even comedies(Dr. Strangelove, Anger Management). But simply put, movies are going too far these days.

Ricky Bobby was funny. Until the gay kissing scene. Borat was hilarious. Until the gay naked scene. Saw was flat out evil. Has no point to it oncever except people getting killed in grosteque manners. Same with Hostel.

What is wrong???? Are these people so desperate for ratings that they will result to staggering homosexual behavior and senseless grisly scenes of violence? Is there no limit?

I was recently excited about the Simpsons Movie. But why does it have Bart running around nude??? It wasn't even funny. Chuck and Larry was just crap.

I'm no religious fundie and I actually love many R rated movies, but some of this stuff that is being shown is inpermissible, on any level onceoever.

Agree or not? Give me a star if you do.

I know I already asked this question,I just want moreopinions.

I mean, isn't there a line you just don't cross? Do we have any bounds anymore? Even for R rated movies, there have been some wicked things going on.

Many of this I don't find funny or cool. Seeing gay guys kissing isn't funny. Seeing people sawed to bits for no reason whatsoever isn't neat.

Actually Dragonette, I LOVE videogames. Some even M rated. XBOX and PC inparticular. I'm a Halo fanatic and I relish the Total War series on the PC. However, I believe that there are some lines of deceny that shouldn't be crossed no matter what, whether it be video games or movies or music.

Take Grand Theft Auto for instance. No point to that game onceoever but mindless violence, drugs, and sex. It crosses many boundaries that society has clearly established, and that is pathetic. Halo at least has a point to it.

Ah, although the majority of movies coming out are "crap", you have to realize that the "crap" is actually selling. America loves crap. What can you do? If there is a market for it, they will sell it. It's a sad case, but it's a fact.

well if you look at any movies new or old they are all the same some are crap and some are excellent...and the thing about the simpsons is that bart has been nude in many episodes of the simpsons but they just never showed his penis. and they prolly showed it in the movie for shock factor they have no reason to do anything they can for ratings they dont need them considering they have been one of the longest running shows on tv. i thing they did because no one expected it. and about the gruesomeness of movies today it because they can...i love horror movies, the bloodier the better....but i also like the action films that done have a lot of blood.and the gay scenes i think people feel like america is more open to concept of homosexuals. especially since broke back mountain...but anywho thats just my take on it all

VERY few new films are worth anything, unfortunately.
A precious few use the lack of censorship now to really say something, and work right. But you have to slog through tons of junky films to find the few that are good.

I watch 80% films made in the 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's. They were made in the "Production Code" era, and had strict rules about what was permitted in films----this forced the films to "work", and to be truly entertaining. Also, the movie-makers of this era, at every level, were the greatest technicians, writers, actors, set designers, producers, that have ever lived. They will simply never be replaced---many are legends that will continue forever. Even the "bad" films made in this period work well, and have a lot of watchability. These films have plenty of action, violence, and sex---they just do it right.

Rarely, a new film is "just right"---one is TURISTAS, also, THE QUEEN. But 95% of all movies made now are best for over-18's. If I had children, they would not be seeing new films, unless I screened them first.

Movies and other media are "going too far" now adays because younger generations are being exposed to far more at younger ages than other generations were. Things that you found funny at 24 are diffrent from what people find funny at 24 now because they saw the same thing you saw at 24 at 11. The same goes for Horror movies, action movies, ect... Its simply that due to over exposure things have to keep going farther and farther to please. You don't stay interested in the same thing that you were at age 11 at age 24. Senses become dulled to the same type of thing, it becomes acceptable, even the norm, and when that happens something bigger or better if you will must take its place. I myself am 17 I know of 13 year old guys that saw Borat. When they're my age that won't be funny anymore, just like Napoleon Dynamite is now no more funny to people my age than Barney.

I didn't see Saw or Saw 2 ... the only way to demonstrate your approval is to not patronize the movies you don't think should be shown. I also don't like movies about people who are made fun of because they are stupid (Something about Mary, Dumb and Dumber, etc...) so I just don't go.

Gay men kissing doesn't bother me. It usually only bothers people with issues about their own repressed homosexual tendencies. What bothers me is movies with men in their 50s and 60s chasing after women young enough to be their grandchildren. I think thats why I loved the remake of The Thomas Crown Affair - Pierce Brosnan and Rene Ruso were both in their 40s when it was made - a perfect age for each other!

There are plenty of good movies to go see - I loved Stardust! A classic fairy tale!

There is no line nor has there ever been. We can cite examples from any decade.

The choice to attend remains yours and that's the beauty of it. You won't catch me at a Saw movie, ever. Nor will I see Chuck and Larry. By choice and I'm glad I have that choice and that there are a wide set of choices to be made.

Just because I happen to choose Hairspray and Nancy Drew doesn't mean I'm not glad those others exist.

My question is: You know what a movie like Saw is about and you know what a movie like Chuck and Larry is about, why would you go see them if you don't like those sorts of things. Stop trying to censor americans, if you don't like it, don't go see it plain and simple.
you're probably the same type of person who would probably blame the video game industry for corrupting children when it's the parents who should be monitoring what their children are buying and playing.

Sorry if I sound rude, just how I feel.

People love terror, controversy, accidents, crazy stuff. Thats why the idiots on the road will slow down to look at someone in a car wreck or pulled over.

It's what sells. That's why hiphop will never stop using the N-word (and worse), glorifying violence and/or denigrating women. It sells.
