It isn't a newer movie. It was from a few years ago. Something went wrong with controls or something and the craft had to crash land in the LA waterways.

THE CORE: is the name! It had a scenario where people had to go into the centre of the Earth to remagnetize it's core. The demagnetization was what caused their instruments to fail.
