No, the reliever came into the game and finished the game by pitching 3 innings. Any pitcher who finishes a game and pitches 3+ innings receives a save.

Under any circumstances if a pitcher pitches three innings and finishes the game no matter how high the score is it is considered a save.

Well, that reminds me of a July 23, 2002 Boston/Tampa Bay game. Boston won 22-4, unfortunately, and because a reliever went three innings, they got the save. I don't like it, but that's what the rules say, I guess

It is because the reliever pitched 3 innings to end the game.

In baseball, you can be awarded a save, reguardless of the score, should you record the final 9 outs or more to end the ball game

The Rangers broadcaster called it "the stupidest save in history", and I mostly agree with that. But it's good for a laugh or a trivia question.

Depends on how many pitchs and strike outs the pitcher has thrown, the first pitcher that does the most pitchs and strike outs will always get the win unless they lose the game.
