I find it difficult to compare the true speed of processors nowaday, can anyone suggest an easy way to do it?

Those are LAPTOP processors, and you're not going to be playing Rainbow 6: Vegas on a laptop unless you're spending $2,000+ on an Alienware gaming laptop.

You can build a desktop PC that will play it just fine for around $650 through newegg.com:

$75 - Pentium e2140 (Core 2 chip with less cache)
$20 - Arctic Cooler PRO (overlock the CPU to 2.8ghz+)
$75 - 2gb of RAM
$75-100 - decent motherboard with overlcocking options
$240 - Nvidia 8800gts
$30 - Case with 120mm intake and exhaust fans
$55 - 250gb SATA hard drive
$55 - FSP power supply
$30 - DVD / CD burner

yes intel's new processor naming system is stupid. i don't pay attention to it. i only pay attention to clock speed, cache, and fsb. i would get the core2duo. make sure u have an equally powerful graphics card, like a nvidia 8000 series graphics card.
