When we were on the way in, the Iraq invasion was going to be the antithesis of the Viet Nam fiasco; Rumsfeld flatly declared "I don't do quagmires".

Now comes Bush to say that we can't pull out of Iraq because it would be as great a disaster as our pullout from Viet Nam was.

My question is this: how long does Bush think we should have stayed in Southeast Asia?

A man who does not read history is doomed to repeat it.

Since our dear leader is known for being a below average student in Harvard, it is safe to assume that Bush did not read history. If he did, he would understand how much disaster starting a war without rhyme or reason would be for an administration.

I think it's partly because he dumped Karl Rove who had the last word about Bush's speeches. Bush is just flapping his lips now! He doesn't know where to stand on issues now!

You don't seem to know exactly how things went down at the end of the Vietnam War. I do, I witnessed it. Nixon began a campaign of heavy bombing. This drove them back to the bargaining table. We stopped the bombing and they agreed to pull out of and respect South Vietnam if America would pull out, too. They began to withdraw, we began to withdraw. Once most of our troops were pulled out the democratically controlled congress took advantage of the situation and cut the funding.

The North Vietnamese realized that this meant we could not come back to support the South and the Chinese, Russian supported North began the massacre. These are the facts.

We should have stayed in and around South East Asia and the funding should not have been cut.
