I love George's Outdoor Terrace Bistro in La Jolla. Make reservations in advance for a table near the ocean and time it so you are dining during the sunset. It's a spectacular show.

I agree with Kathy H and pick George's in downtown La Jolla as the best place to go. The prices are actually reasonable for the atmosphere. The place has three floors so if you want the ocean view, go to the top floor. Make sure to go on a nice day because it's outdoor patio sitting.

My favorite beachside restaurant is the Beach House in Cardiff...get seats on the patio prior to sunset and it's a fantastic view of a long stretch of coastline. The patio is right on the beach. They take phone reservations.
They have early bird specials they serve if you get there before either 6 or 6:30 pm (I'm not sure; you'd have to call to check) that are very reasonable and if you click on the link you can get a coupon for free dessert (your choice of an excellent dessert menu). They have lots of patio heaters so even if you're there in the winter it's always pleasant out there. They also have spotlights that shine on the surf at night. Only negative is you'll have to pay for valet parking unless you want to hassle with finding street parking. http://www.thebeachhouse.com/
(oops sorry, dessert coupon recently expired. By the way it's busy during race track season so you might want to check it out after Sept 6)

I really liked this restaurant in Pacific Beach It is called Gingo's
Address: 4474 Mission Blvd., San Diego, CA 92109
At Gringo’s, diners will find enticing traditional Mexican dishes with a modern flair. The unique setting is one of the most dramatic in Pacific Beach, a blend of modern architecture and artisan décor. Chef Victor Jimenez’s menu blends the cuisines of Mexico, Spain, and the United States, with highlights such as Oaxcan Mole Sampler, Yucatan Salmon, and Carnitas. The drink menu offers an enticing array of creative concoctions, from pomegranate margaritas to premium tequilia flights, allowing diners to sample from the list of over premium tequilas. The upscale setting, elegant dishes, and fun libations combine to make Gringo’s a truly unique dining experience in the heart of Pacific Beach.

Try Brockton Villa in La Jolla. Or the Crabcatcher in La Jolla.
Gringos is not on the beach or ocean.

the perfect college districts interior the county are Del Mar Union/San Dieguito, which contains Carmel Valley (ignore approximately Del Mar appropriate--there are not many apartments in that section, yet there are some in that variety in Carmel Valley counting on how many bedrooms you go with) and Poway. There ought to be jobs in the two section. the two factors are completely risk-free.

I love Anthonys. They have two resturants. One is a take out style, with seating right on the pier. The other is a wonderful restaurant. The great thing, the food comes from the same kitchen.

It is a fish restaurant. Both do have a decent price.

There are several restaurants overlooking the cove in La Jolla and all are very good. There is also a restaurant row in Solana Beach.
