Why is it that so many people treat the mentally ill community like garbage, putting them down and verbally bashing them but when it comes to gays, they are treated a lot better? Those with mental illness are born that way so why pick on them? I don't see many gays getting treated that way so if anyone gets offended, that's their problem and incase anyone wants to be smart about this question, I do not have mental illness but I am a supporter of them.

I think people are missing the point so stop putting words in my mouth. I also see that more people get up in arms if you slam a gay person but not a mental person. I'm not bashing anyone. I am simply asking a question. I did not use offensive language, I did not verbally abuse anyone. I also see that the gays have more supporters than people with mental illness. I visited their site and I got to abserve how they are descriminated against. I visited this site and not many people have bashed you but yet you act like you are victimized.

While your honesty is admirable, there is much yet for you to learn about the gay community and the issues faced by them each day. I, for one, am gay have had the pleasure of working with and supporting mentally challenged individuals. I have also had the displeasure of being physically assualted and hospitalized 3 times because of my being gay. Not to mention jobs that "found a way" to get rid of the resident f****t. However, I have found a way to help and there are MANY people out there that DO want to help. The cutting of government funding and lack of support is the worst enemy of mentally challenged individuals, not verbal abuse. Thanks for listening....

You obviously don't see it from the point of view of the harrassed.. either mentally ill OR gay..
I can honestly say I am not treated better than a mentally ill person.. I had a guy ram my car ON PURPOSE when he saw a little 3 inch rainbow sticker and take off.. three witnesses with the guys license plate number.. cop comes and pretty much says What did you expect.. Nothing ever came of it.. guy was never caught and I have seen the car numerous times.. Had the guy rammed in the door where a mentally ill person had been sitting I doubt the cop would have insinuated it was their fault..
How you see the world depends on where you are in it.. I see many sides.. I see that in some places it is more acceptable to be gay, just as in some it's considered more acceptable to be one race or another.. It's not a world wide.. not even country wide really.. event. Every moment the tide changes.. and hopefully one day none of it will even be an issue..

Wow, if you spent just one day on this gay board, you'd be shocked. We get treated a lot worse than people with mental illnesses. By the way, I would never IN my life consider downtalking someone with a mental illness, so think of what you say, there are people who are much better than that, you just haven't met them.

Mental illness has always been looked on as a taboo. That's why people treat mental illness as if it were leprosy. Good for you. Here's a web site you may find interesting.

Wanda turn on fox news and keep note of how many times they talk about how immoral homosexuals are and see how many times they mention the mentally handicapped community.

So are you saying that gay people should be picked on more? I don't think any of us should be picked for who we are.
Im not gonna argue whos picked on more, but you should get off your high horse and realize thats its wrong to bash anyone for being who they are.
