My grandmother made me put grounded peppermint leaves on the sore when I was younger until it tingles, and (since I'm a chronic cold sore sufferer) I have never found anything to be as effective as it. Granted you still have to wait at least a day for it to fully work, but it's still faster than stuff like Blistex.

I use tea tree oil, on the very rare occasions that I get one. As I haven't had one for a few years, thinking about it, I guess it may have killed the virus off.

Stings a bit though!

Eat no meat (fat), no alcohal, no drugs, lots of water.
It usually starts from an overly toxic liver.
