The only way she doesn't pay taxes is if her income is low enough so that her standard deduction ($5,350 for a single person for 2007) and personal exemption ($3,400 for 2007) wipe out her income. If she has an AGI higher than $8,750 for 2007 and doesn't itemize then she has a tax liability, and is required to file a return. If she's self employed, she is required to file a return and pay tax if her net self-employment income is above $400.

Otherwise, better hope you're not married to her when the IRS catches up to her and hits her with taxes, penalties, and interest.

She's a tax evader/protestor/nonfiler/nonpayer. And her statement about american soveriegnty means absolutely nothing, and no it's not legal. She'll be in a lot of trouble when the IRS catches her, and you will be also if you marry her and file a joint return.

If she makes less than the minimum taxable amount -- $8,750 for wages subject to withholding in 2007 -- she won't pay any tax other than Social Security and Medicare. However the comment about "American sovereignty" makes her sound like some sort of Tax Kook. If that's the case, keep your distance as you are dealing with someone who is NUTS.

If she has income above the amount where she'd be required to file but doesn't file, then she's illegally evading taxes, and will be subject to penalties in addition to the back tax if and when she gets caught.

the only way you dont pay taxes in america is if you have no property, no income, or if youre a government official- i think. If the IRS finds out shes not paying taxes and shes sipposed to, she can go to prison
