I'm gathering some insight from real people. Thanks Val.

Adoption is not what I am interested in learning about.

As I read through these extraordinarily judgmental answers, it occurs to me that this question may have best been posted in the health, religion or philosophy sections of Yahoo Answers depending on whether you wanted to be educated, pilloried or pontificated upon. Posting it here is the equivalent of committing seppuku using your keyboard.
I have reread your question to see if you invoked Beelzebub. You didn’t. In fact, you didn’t even say whether you had a personal interest in the answer. Others merely assumed they knew what your intent was. You merely asked an honest, theoretical question, and that’s when the heavens opened up and fire and brimstone rained down.
I don’t have a specific theoretical answer to your theoretical question other than to say that earlier is always better than later, and in this case, 1-8 weeks probably circumvents most of the medical and moral complications that may arise. As a woman wanders into the second trimester of pregnancy the flood of hormones starts doing surprising things to her body that before her pregnancy she wouldn’t have appreciated; the fetus will have developed to a point where a woman has to do more moral back-flips to justify the decision; and the woman is more inclined to answer accidentally misplaced Yahoo questions vociferously.
Incidentally, if you look to the heavens for answer, here’s what you will find: according to best estimates, 25% of pregnancies will end in spontaneous abortions (miscarriages) in the first trimester. After that, the numbers dropped dramatically. So if a God exists, he performs most of his abortions in the first trimester.
And God said let it rain.

The best time would be while you can still use a chemical abortion method as it is the least invasive. That is 8 weeks and earlier. The result is similar to a normal miscarriage.

The most common abortion has been D&C which can be performed at any time up to about 14-16 weeks in a clinic depending on the state regulation (after that, a hospital). This is the exact same procedure that is done for women after a miscarriage.

As far as the conceptus (hey, that was a new term for me), the earlier the better would be my opinion. Sometimes later is the only option when faced with poor prenatal results.

I do have similar opinions as these other people about abortion...but the problem is that she did not ask you what your personal beliefs are. You can shove them down her throat all you want, it will not change much. Please try to be more considerate, after all it is legal. If you want to do something to change it, then by all means. But don't start tripping out on a girl asking a question. Yelling things and going about it that way won't make a difference in this world.

I agree with them tho hun, abortion would not be my personal choice.
Doctors will do it up until 12 months of pregnancy, but one should always consider every option, especially adoption.

Good luck <3

You should NEVER, NEVER, EVER have an abortion. What if your mom and dad had an abortion? You should not have sex if you don't want a baby. Life is a gift from God and you or anyone else does not have a right to take it. The only reason why you do not want to do adoption is because you do not want to have to answer the question why did you give me away. stop being selfish. That child was created to live. If someone tried to kill you but did not succeed you would want them punished. then you should be punished for wanting to abort a precious life that does not have a say so on rather or not they want to live. If you are thinking of killing a baby, please don't. There are so many people that would give anything to have a child. If not, never encourage taking a life. Always choose life over abortion and safe sex or no sex over unprotected sex.

I think everyone has a reason for making the decisions that they choose. If you think that having an abortion is the best thing for you than as soon as you decide to have it done you should do it. You should however make sure it is what you really want to do, once it is done you can never go back.

As soon as possible. It is only against the law when you get into the third trimester unless it is a medical emergency. To everyone else saying never go take a look at the mirror and find your faults before you go judge someone else. You guys act like such moral people well you are sinning right now by passing judgment.

It is not ILLEGAL in any stage of pregnancy in the USA to have an abortion.... HOWEVER, although I am NOT a pro-lifer and believe in PRO-CHOICE, I certainly would NOT consider an abortion for MYSELF any time after the 20th week of pregnancy UNLESS there was a serious risk of death to ME if I were to carry a baby to term.... The time when it is the LEAST harmful to the woman would be within the first 12 weeks. Abortion is a CHOICE and when making that choice, it should be YOUR decision and YOURS ALONE---no one else should have a say in what you do or don't do... and NO ONE should call you a sinner or murderer or any other names that pro-lifers attach to the concept of abortion.....it is one of the most difficult decisions a woman has to make... she doesn't NEED nor WANT the added outside pressure......ONE WAY OR THE OTHER!!!!

RU486, Mifepristone (Abortion Pill) Within 4 to 7 weeks after LMP

Suction Curettage: between 6 to 14 weeks after LMP

Manual Vacuum Aspiration: up to 7 weeks after last menstrual period (LMP)

Dilation and Evacuation (D&E): between 13 to 24 weeks after LMP

Dilation and Extraction (D&X) (partial-birth abortion): from 20 weeks after LMP to full-term

It is best to do it asap, the procedure is smaller but in some places in can be done up to full term.

I'm not going into the morality of the issue, but legally doctors CANNOT do an abortion after the first trimester, or the first 12 weeks. If you're serious about getting one, the sooner you have it, the better, and the lower risk of having any complications, not to mention that the sooner you have it done, usually the cheaper it is.

As to everyone else who replied, the women just wanted to know a fact, she didn't ask for all of your opinions on whether it is morally right or not.

if you are 12 weeks or over, tough luck. You cant get one past 12 weeks because at that time the baby has a heart and a brain and lungs and its considered murder if you do get an abortion and its illegal. Right now, the national law is that you cant get an abortion unless it will literally kill you to give birth to the child
