ok so i want to order some shoes online....www.eastbay.com....and i was wondering exactly how safe is this site? and is there any possibility my card number will be stolen? what can i do to protect my computer from hackers? how do i know my computer has been hacked?

Go to their web page.

Look up at the web address box at the top of their web page.

At the end of the address there will be a "gold lock" at the far right hand end. This indicates that it is a safe, encrypted site.

I would trust that particular site with my money. It has been secured with verisign which is a very good security company. I would worry more about your own computer than eastbay.

I am pretty sure it will be stolen. If you want to maximize your security. you can get softwares like norton.
