What comes first the longer name or shorter name when it comes to putting these in alphabetical order?

Kulas, John
Kullas, Johnathan

Last names usually first and you have:

kulAs
kulLas

So A comes before L thus Kulas gets filed before Kullas.
If they had the same last name but one was John and one Johnathan then no letter gets filed before A so John_ would get filed in front of JohnAthan.

Get it? Blanks always before A, A before any other letter and letters before numbers.

shorter goes first
And you know, if one has only 1 l and the other has 2 ls, then the shorter one is first anyway
